Big Lug

We had a lot of fun Saturday night. Jim's company gave us tickets and cash to spend at the Lansing Lugnuts game. Ryan is still talking about the game and the fireworks. He got to give the mascot "Big Lug" a high five and his Lansing Lugnut baseball is also signed by the big dino. (He also got a little bat. What the heck? It was free, thanks to Alro.)

After the game, there was a firework show. Ryan was a little spooked and I could feel him shivering. We've seen alot of fireworks and this was the first time he had this reaction. He still says he enjoyed them and tells everyone we see that he went to the baseball game and saw fireworks. He gets another chance to see fireworks this weekend for cousin Jakob's party.

He was such a good boy. Even when other kids were running the stands and screaming, he remained calm and cute. Tyler was in good hands at home with Grandma Vicki. (Thanks Grandma.) Maybe next summer he'll get to see a game. For now, he's too much of a wiggle worm.

Notice Life Today: Ryan is really getting a good and accurate throwing arm. He wants to play catch and bat the ball each night.

Bath Time for Two & Happy Dances

Here's a picture (not very good lighting, sorry) of Ryan and Tyler taking their first bath together last week. They both had so much fun. Tyler liked throwing the toys out of the tub. Ryan liked to splash water on Tyler. Cute.
Notice Life Today: Ryan is really excited about "vacation time". We call vacation time any time that we get to stay home. Weekends, for example are started with a happy dance at 4:00 o'clock and a song of "We're on vacation, we're on vacation!!" Ryan has even noticed that his vacation time is longer now that we are working 4 days a week. Every day he gives us a countdown of how many "Miss Char days" are left before vacation.

The smile says it all....

Tyler is definately letting us know his place in this world. He's consantly testing.
"If I scream, will they respond? If I cry, will they pick me up? If I'm quiet, will they discover me dumping the cat food? I know what I'm not supposed to do...but when I'm doing it, I'm loving it."
Notice Life Today: Tyler has a million toys but still wants anything that Ryan has. He has to be right next to Ryan constantly. It's just the beginning, I know. Ryan is just starting to object.

Woo Hoo! 3 Day Weekend!!

So, for all of the grumbling for having to go to a 4 day 10 hour work week, I have to admit that it has gone fairly well. 4 a.m. comes awfully early but I am pretty excited about having tomorrow off. Special thanks to Miss Char and the gang over at the daycare who are graciously taking the boys in an hour earlier each day and keeping them a little later than usual. And have I told you lately about my wonderful husband. He crawls out of bed at 5 a.m. to help us start our day even though he doesn't start work until 9 a.m. What a keeper!

A couple of fun things happened last night....
We had a picnic dinner on our boat and spent some time at the park playing and swimming. When we came home, Ryan asked Tyler to come take a bath with him. They spent some fun time laughing and giggling and splashing way too much water! Fun times.

Hope you have a great weekend.

Notice Life Today: Ryan is so familiar with his Shrek 2 soundtrack that he can recite what song number each song is on the CD. He also very much enjoys big twist ice cream cones!

We've got Power!

I'm thankful this morning for electricity! It makes my life so much easier.

Somebody please wish us good luck!

We've had a run of bad luck. Our power is out. It was out on Friday and most of the day Saturday. Last night it went back out and when Jimmy called Consumers...they said it will be 0ut until Wednesday at 11 p.m. Yuck. It's sooo hard entertaining and providing care for the little ones with no power.

We started school/work this morning at 6:00 a.m. That meant getting up at 4:15 by candle light and stumbling around the house for necessities. The boys went to school in PJs but had fun laughing at the flashlight shadows :)

Saturday night we were passing time outdoors fishing, playing frisbee, etc. when I decided to do some jumps on the trampoline. I guess the 15 years of ware and tare were finally too much. One last bounce and boom! I went through the tramp and landed on my knees on the ground. It made a very loud noise and took me a few minutes to catch my breath to figure out I was ok. I'm just so thankful that it didn't happen with one of the kids on the tramp.

That same night, Ryan was standing in a chair and flipped over the side onto the floor. Nope, the adventures aren't over. Sunday, Tyler fell asleep on the boat and rolled off the seat onto the floor while I waded in the water with Ryan. He barely made a peep, the sweetie. Afterward, he went for his first swim and loved splashing in the water. Ryan floated on his back in his life jacket, which he thought was really cool. Luckily, Jimmy was void of any accidents.

We ended the evening last night washing up in the lake and gathering water in the bucket so we could flush the toilet. On the way back into the house, Ryan tripped on his towel and smashed his mouth into the wooden step. His poor gums were bleeding and swolen. Thank goodness they didn't bleed long and they really healed alot over night.

Needless to say, our weekend was quite eventful! Tonight when we get home I think we will pack up and move in with Granna if she'll take us. I'll keep you posted. Say a prayer for us, I must have really messed up my yin-yang.

10 Months

Here's a look at Ryan and Tyler, both at 10-months-old! Have a good weekend.

Notice Life Today: Jim noticed yesterday that Ryan is starting to refer to us as mom and dad rather than mommy and daddy :( I guess that's better than the occasional Carol and Jimmy!

Bottoms Up!

Here's my sweet smellin' boy posin' after his bath. He has to get a few minutes of free time before he will agree to get that diaper back on.

Check us out tomorrow, I'm planning on posting a 10 month pix of Ryan compared to a 10 month of Tyler!

Notice Life Today: Ryan is so cute taking books everywhere we go so he can read to us in the car. He has several books mostly memorized. His expressions are priceless.

Basketball Shootout

Here are some pictures from a while ago. Ryan was playing basketball with the boy next door. He was so determined to make that shot and finally figured out how to do it.
Notice Life Today: Ryan is really enjoying playing board games. He's learning to play Yahtzee, Uno, and Sequence. Oftentimes, we object to his suggestions to play such games, but he almost always proves us wrong and does quite well. I love the fact that Ryan loves games and books.
