Unwelcome Guest

Mr. Mucus was our houseguest this weekend and it was not fun! Jim has had a case of the crud since Wednesday and Ryan started to cough on Thursday. After a trip to the pediatrician on Friday, Ryan was sent home with a diagnosis of post nasal drip which has turned into a deep, rumbly cough. We started breathing treatments yesterday and we're hoping that our houseguest gets bored and leaves! I want my boys to start feeling better.

My Snow Buddy

Talk about chilly smiles! Ryan has more snow on him than his snowman, but he loves every minute of it.

RyRy's First Snowman

Yesterday was a beautiful day! We spent quite a bit of time walking across the ice covered lake. Our last report states that the ice is 9 inches thick. I have to admit, it was hard work. After I went inside to start dinner, Jim and Ryan built a snowman and had a snowball fight. Ryan took one right in the mouth. What a trooper. Check out the fun.

15-Week Check-Up

Yesterday, I had my 15 Week Pregnancy Check-up. Doc says everything is fine. It is the second time I have heard my baby's heartbeat and I swear I missed a few beats of my own just sitting in awe of the miracle. I keep scolding myself because I haven't recorded every step of this pregnancy as I did with Ryan. You think you will remember everything, but you don't. We'll get to see an ultrasound of our baby on March 22. Until then, I will rely on the web to see the baby's developmental stage.

At 15 weeks, almost all of the organ systems (heart, blood vessels, kidneys, etc.) are present in their basic form even though the body is quite small--about the size of your thumb. The 15 week fetus is approximately 9 cm (3.5 inches) from the top of its head to the tip of its "tail bone." Its head is about 3 cm from temple to temple or 1.5 to 2 times the size of your thumbnail (about the size of a quarter). The face proper would be about thumbnail size. The arm from shoulder to hand is about 5 cm or 2 inches in length and the hand is about 1 cm or half the size of a dime.

Husband With Heart!

Today, as I am asked by fellow co-workers how I celebrated with my Valentine, I smile because Valentine's Day fell on a wintry Wednesday this year. It just so happens it is the day of the week dedicated to bowling, and so, I spent a quiet evening at home with Ryan, who was a perfect date for a 2-year old. And even though Ryan and I fell asleep at 8:45 p.m., (sorry Jim) the day was not lost of love. My day started, hurriedly, as always, and to my delight a small box sat on the kitchen counter with a love note from Ryan. Inside the box, a sweet golden heart "MOM" necklace. My husband's thoughtfulness and pre-planning is the best gift of all and the smile on my face lasted the whole day. (Oh, and by the way, I did have a small gift for Jim, but I didn't set it out until today(sorry again) even though I've had it for weeks.)

I hope your Valentine's Day was filled with love too!

Snow Slippin'

Finally, some winter fun! Ryan has been catching snowflakes in his hands for weeks but it has been too cold to actually play. Dad, Mom, and Ryan finally braved the pre-storm the other night and went sledding in our yard. Fun, Fun, Fun!

Just for Fun!

This feels a little strange. For months, I have been enjoying my sister-in-law's blogspot where she shares the exciting adventures of her family and helps me to feel as if I am a part of the team. It has been a lot of fun watching their everyday adventures, which I would have otherwise missed. I am hoping that my blogspot might help you to feel more connected to my family too. Please let me apologize in advance for any corny anecdotes or just too gooey sentiments. I hope you enjoy. I know I will love the chance to brag about my loved ones.
