Capri Drive-In

We scored a good deal on Groupon for some Capri Drive-In movie tickets.  We went to see Monsters University and Despicable Me 2.  We didn't quite make it through the 2nd movie before we headed home, but we really enjoyed the outdoor theme.

The gates open at 8:00 p.m. and the cars line up all down US-12 waiting for the adventure.

Grand Haven, Muskegon, Michigan Adventure Thrills

The boys had fun tossing around the football.  Dive Baby!
We couldn't use the beach at PJ Hoffmaster due to black flies, so we headed for a family favorite destination...Grand Haven.

We got plenty of MA this summer.  We loved having the season passes to come and go as we pleased.  We had alot of hot days at the waterpark.
We checked out some trails at the state park.  Beautiful.

Play Time....Middle O Da Lake Diving

The kiddos had some friends over to play in the sun.  We jumped in the water and played some games and it was a good time for all.

Nascar Fans.

Ryan and Jim try to catch some tickets the race.  They have gone on Father's Day the past 2 years.

Chicago!

We were super excited to win the Chicago Adventure from the PTOs Silent Auction.  It included a $50 voucher for Amtrak.  We still paid a pretty hefty fair, but figured we'd probably spend more on gas and we looked forward to our first train ride.  (Note:  It took forever to check in and we worried we would miss the train even though we went an hour early.)
We couldn't find seats together or in groups of 2 until a couple of nice ladies offered to move.  We passed the time by sending these texts back and forth.  It was extra nice of Uncle Rich to meet us at the station and feed our bellies before we headed on our adventures.  He works just minutes from Union Station.
We loved the Cellular Field Stadium and were proud to wear our Tiger Garb and cheer the boys on to victory.  (We even had a chance to see Wrigley Field when the subway attendant sent us in the wrong direction.  We wondered why the first store we stopped in had White Sox Suck T's:)  No problem, we had plenty of time and enjoyed the ride.

Cellular Field has all kinds of fun stuff for free for the kids.  We really had some fun. The kiddos had to wear Tennis Shoes and Tyler only had Croqs.  So Ryan kept handing over his shoes so Tyler could enjoy the fun.

This kids center at the field was genius.  I keep thinking it's a money maker

What a great view!  Unfortunately, our $5 seats wouldn't allow us down by the field for some autographs. Jim was super bummed about that.

No surprise that the kiddos loved Shedd Aquarium.  When we got there this Tuesday afternoon, the lines were backed up for a half mile.  We lucked out and some employees offered us a back door entrance. Lucky!

A nice employee gave us some free entrance passes to the show too.

"We promise, we won't get wet!"  We found a fountain by Navy Pier just as the sun was going down and it was getting cold.  And just before our dinner at Bubba Gumps with Uncle Rich.  We managed:)

Played with some boats and watched the fire works at Navy Pier.

Our last day was spent at the Museum of Science and Industry. Tyler loved all of the things to move and touch.  Jim loved the submarine.

I'm surprised I didn't get a pic of our hotel.  We got a deal at the Allerton via Travelzoo.  When we showed up, the room wasn't ready and they offered us an upgrade to a King Suite.  Yes!  The employees were all so friendly and helpful.  I loved meeting up with Tina for some Chicago Pizza.  Sadly, I didn't get a picture but I appreciate that she took the time out to meet us.  Good times.
